  • The Church and I: A GP Series

Let's talk about the church, and how we interact with it as a whole and with its members. I have some ideas in my head on where to go, and for the first time in a woefully long time, do not believe any of my churches are actually in discord/turmoil. So let's do this. You may comment below if there's a particular topic of interest to you.

  • Are we talking about what we like/dislike about the church's interaction?

  • That's a big topic, there Xanga friend. I like my pastor's outlook on church - he believes that we're about Kingdom business and subsequently it doesn't matter what any of our numbers look like, only what we allow the Lord to do through ourselves via the church. The local united methodists pastor feels the same way, apparently. Even though he has lost quite a few of his congregants to our church, he still insists on working with us to make Christ known to the community. I like that about him. I wish more people in the world were like him in that way.

I also think that we should be more of a community than a body that comes together once or twice a week. Don't tell anyone, but I think that it would be pretty cool to live with eachother, too. (Maybe I SHOULD join a commune...)

  • Here's a subject I'd be interested in reading about... Sunday School Classrooms vs. Small Groups for fellowship & instruction.  Most of my life I've attended churches that feature Sunday Schools only.  My current church has SS just for kids, and provides SG's for the teens and adults.  Can a SS environment provide the same bond and spiritual growth as a SG?

  • Oh oh oh---switching churches.

  • Apparently we've never visited the same churches then.

  • I currently attend a church where the fellowship is lacking (almost nonexistent beyond the routine Hi, how are you, have a nice week...)  While part of me has considered going elsewhere, I really sense that God has work for me at this church. Another very important factor is that the preaching is straight, and I am motivated to grow spiritually.

My solution has been to find a small group from another church to fellowship with other Christians, and at the same time continue with my ministry at my church. This is a recent move, so time will tell how it will work out.

  • ah, i am just so tired of church.

  • Hehe. Obviously there's more to the current situations than what the pulse says. I could explain, but I'm not sure you're ready for all that.

But don't tell me you haven't fallen asleep at someone's house before? I do almost every day (probably because I don't get enough sleep). Just this time I didn't wake up until morning.
