  • Syria Bans Facebook

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071207/ap_on_hi_te/syria_facebook So apparently, Syria is banning Facebook in Syria for fear that Israelis will infiltrate their networks on Facebook. I can certainly understand this move, and think President Bashar Assad made the correct decision. After all, I'm sure Facebook is just full of Bashar note entries like this:

"Bassinthehouse007; got to remember that password to our chemical weapons factory this week. Can't be giving away the best technology in all of Iraq, err, Syria after all it took to get it out of Iraq! Let's see, so should I mix up the Sarin or the mustard gas this week? What do you think, friends? Vote in the comments!"

Or, imagine the horror of Israelis mixing with Syrians! Why the Syrians might realize that all Jews don't drink the blood of Arab babies! How disturbing! No, no, Bashar Assad definitely made the right decision, and I applaud him on it. But sigh, I'm going to miss putting entries in his honesty box like "One of your guards is a traitor. Find him" or "In your last TV appearance, you had some spinach between your teeth. Don't worry, I won't tell anyone." I suppose everyone has to sacrifice at times.

  • Quite hilarious

ryc: thank you, I was a bit worried people might think it was a mistake.

  • ryc - Obviously, knowledge of the actual scripture is most important, but there is also much to be gained by looking at it in the context of the history, or looking at how the church has understood different passages throughout history. And knowing different views and interpretations of the scriptures never hurt as long as you accept the one the Spirit of Truth reveals and not the most popular view of the time or what have you. Really, just scriptural knowledge is probably enough to have a deep conversation though.

re your post - interesting. And nice commentary. :)

  • Ha ha, I can see it now, the hacker app.... add it and upload all the information on your pc to israeli defense databases

  • Darn, and I just sent him a friend request, too!

  • I think the relationships status options were too offensive.  They probably would have preferred "under the control of my male relatives"  "betrothed" and "my husband is making me shut down my accout" as the only options...
