  • Rest in Peace, J-stick

One of the finest gentlemen Xanga has known has passed away. Permit me a bit of religious conversation. It makes me smile to realize that the man who so loved beauty is at this moment surrounded by infinite beauty in heaven. I was sad at first, but I read his last blogs and smiled...I just wish I had commented more recently on his blog.

  • my love and condolences, friend.

  • He will be missedhe was a beautiful man and an incredible artist.

  • He will be saddly missed by many.

  • I never got to read his work, but now I regret that I never did. Prayers and thoughts with his family.

  • i never got so personal so fast with anybody more than the stickman.  gonna miss him but I agree that he's certainly in a good place, now.

  • i am going to miss him terribly... still stunned over the news!

  • He had just voted for me and sounded like a great person.  I wish I had known him sooner.

  • because of his art i feel like i can envision his personal heaven, it makes me happy inside, despite my sorrow over his death. i really feel like he's in a wonderful, beautiful place, doing what he loves to do. he's makin art for the angels now <3

  • @frozencherries - you are so right. You just made me smile for the first time since hearing the sad news.

  • I only just learned of his passing through reading your blog.  My acquaintance with him was not as intimate as yours, but he sometimes read my blogs and I feel privileged to recall that he sometimes commented on them.

Honestly, if it is possible, you have caused me to feel homesick for heaven.  At my age (78), I'm a lot closer to that beautiful Home than I've ever been before!

May God comfort and encourage all those who have been bereaved by this dear brother's passing!

  • @Grampa_David - David, I second what you say here because I just found this out also. May God comfort his loved ones, as well as those who were touched by him here.

  • Yup, school is done for me! I just ended last Thursday. :] BTW, I just saw the link posted on this journal entry... how tragic. I never personally knew him, nor did I know of him until now, but I just saw some of his artwork. Wonderful.

  • Dear Greek,

I should be getting to bed, since it's past 10pm, and I get up at 4am, but I've been in a state of grief pretty much all day long, and I'm still on Xanga. I think I grieve the most perhaps because I never knew John. One thing I love about the internet is the fact that our websites essentially become our legacies, and even though this man is not physically alive, his work and his essence lives on online, here on Xanga.

I read some blogs like books, and I spent over two hours looking at his amazing artwork and reading his inspiring words. Most of all, I loved reading the replies he gave to the comments he received. I think I can say truthfully I don't know anyone who is as gracious as this when returning replies, and it seemed like he answered each comment.

I noticed your comments among the readers of his entries. And I was overwhelmed when I saw the amount of comments from well wishers who didn't know him on the final tribute entry written by Greg. What a sad and yet wonderful thing. We all die eventually, and it's so wonderful to be able to feel so much love in an online forum.

Oh, and I almost forgot. Thanks for the visit and comment, and for recommending my own meager tribute post.

  • he was such a wonderful man.  i miss him terribly.

  • I really did love him. I am working on a blog for him now.

  • Well, that depends - how tall are you? :P

Yeah, I'm thinking of possibly changing the picture soon. And those are just regular blue stripes! It's one of my favorite shirts, however... don't know where it went. :S
