How did you Meet your Friend?
I was thinking about the many odd ways I've met friends. I've met an amusingly large number of my friends by arguing with them or starting a debate. But one of my favorite stories is the pie story. I had moved into a new city for graduate school. I met this grad student in my apartment--he had dark circles under his eyes, and was stressed and sarcastic. I had with me some pie that my mom had sent with me (best mom ever? best mom ever!) with instructions to share with the kids at school (most awkward mom ever? most...jk). I didn't WANT to share the pie, but I realized I couldn't finish it myself, so I reluctantly, rather shamefacedly knocked on his apartment door. It was about 9:30 PM, haha, which made it even more awkward. Anyway, to make a long story short, he trusted me not to poison him (SUCKA!) and he is one of my best friends today. So obey your mom, get friends.WHO KNEW?!
Tell me your funny stories on how you made friends, please.

Once, I shared my lunch with another girl on my first day at a new middle school (because my mom packed me a HUGE lunch), and that girl is still my best friend. Crazy how food sharing makes friends.
pie story. hahaha i must try this! cool post, J.
awww, your mom rocks!
hmmm let me think. one was of my friend abigail and i could barely communicate with each other at work. i can't remember exactly how, but we both just started trying to speak in each other's language more and more (english/spanish). we are still friends to this day,and i am rusty now, but there was a time when we could speak each other's respective language very well. =)
I love to keep my friends, but they keep falling out of the trunk... and the smell after a week is horrible.
I would like to point out that you have never shared pie with me, your dearest friend ever. And it hurts me.
one night in high school, i was alone and there was a storm, and i was kind of freaked out (it was a big house in the middle of a woods!) so i had my friend michael come over with his guitar hero, and he also brought a friend of his, tim. well, michael made fun of me but then passed out on the couch (we weren't drinking...he was just that tired) so tim and i started talking. we are still talking years later and I consider him my best guy friend...he's a total sweetheart and my mom ones said we'd get married someday...haha.
Usually at church or from classes, maybe work... but it is always odd how you might become friends with the person on your right but not your left. Who knows? sometimes it almost feels like fate or destiny in some way, lol.
Pretty sure I met my friend Joel because of all the baked goods I used to concoct in my dorm room. He lived on the 2nd floor and according to Ali the smell of brownies often wafted all the way to the 4th floor if I left the door open... surprised more guys didn't wander randomly into our suite looking for food, actually.
at school but i am such a snob. my friends' moms get to "bribe" me with their cooked meals so i can just be friends with their kids.
yay! heeh My two bestfriends for almost ten years now. One of the girl I met through our mutal friend. We knew that she had jealousy problem so we would secretly hang out at night. Me sneaking out of the 2nd flooor apt with my blankets tied to my bed. Then we both ended up moving to San francisco and back to Los angeles again.
My other bestfriend. I yelled at her friend and she thought i was crazy and i thought she was hot.
end of story. its almost ten years now and they r the only bestfriends of mine
I think thats cute. Rock on to all the people who make unsocial people social!
One of my best friends I met at an all-night observation of meteor showers.
I met this girl in Algebra/Pre-Cal in college. I'd seen her in class a few times before and I don't remember how but we ended up sitting next to each other one day. We shared the slightly awkward smiles and hi's and banal small talk and then somewhere in the middle of class, she took a drink out of her water bottle and turned to me like she was going to say something, but when she opened her mouth... this big wobbly bubble of water popped out and I swear we watched it soar through the air in slow motion and it exploded on my lap! She just looked at me with these huge eyes and my jaw was dropped in shock and then we both just bust up laughing. We've been close friends for over six years now.
@Christy - Hilarious story! Thank you for sharing.
