  • Giving Up My Secret Xanga Reads for 2011

I often read that people are still looking for good new blogs. I have decided to finally open up part of my closely guarded, oh-so-top-secret cache of great Xanga reads that few know about. This is gold, Jerry! err, Xanga. Enjoy! All critical comments will be deleted. This is meant to be a lovefest buffet, no complaining allowed if you don't like one particular dish.

    1. Dr. Rachel's blog. She works with children in Kenya, she does hilarious family photo blogs, she's a published author, and her blog is pretty much unknown on Xanga. I believe Roadkill_Spatula was the one who drew my attention to the blog. After weeks of Roadkill and I writing variations of THIS IS SO AWESOME WHY ARE WE THE ONLY ONES HERE in her comment section, I had to mention her. I dare you to not like this blog. It has something for everyone.

    2. Dr. J's blog.  A/G in the houseeeeee. Ok, nobody got that, haha. But seriously, Doctor J documents his journey through the medical system, and he likes tech, and I think he's cool. Check him out, especially if you're also a grad student or starting your career.

    3. Dr. Liz's blog. A dreadful flaw in the medical system somehow meant that my biological sister Liz was placed with another family. Thankfully through the magic of Xanga, we've been reunited! I cannot count the number of times I've read Liz's blogs and identified with them as my past, present, and future thoughts. If you like my stuff, you'll love Liz.

    4. Rachel in Brazil blog. We've already had Kenya, now Brazil. I love Rachel's combination of thoughtful posts interspersed with photos of furious activity in Brazil.

    5. Loreal from Ireland blog. Loreal is a wonderful woman who loves technology and humor. I met her through MagisterTom in very amusing fashion. Now that she is returning to Ireland, I am hoping for lots of Ireland photo updates (no pressure!). Please welcome her to Xanga, she's new here and no one has really met her yet.

    6. Aoife from the Navy blog. She has returned to blogging after a suspicious absence coinciding with a so-called "baby"; personally I prefer to believe that was a cover for her superhero missions, but whatever! If you enjoy having all your stereotypes about women in the military cheerfully blown apart, you should visit her blog. A self-described Bohemian Conservative, she has unique viewpoints that challenge you and more people should read her.

    7. Aaron the Entrepreneur blog. Aaron is the last of my original Xangan acquaintances, and I am completely biased here. I love his passion for life and thought, whether it be business, his family, or his God. If you like passionate Type A male writers who aren't afraid to share how they feel, you'll like Aaron. He is a unique male writer, and I wish Xanga had more like him.

There you go. Seven Xangans who often get less than 5 comments a post, but write ridiculously well and should be better known. Go forth and subscribe, my Xanga children, and may the comments be with you. I'm going on hiatus a little for this month, but I'll be back.

EDIT: Bonus, my old Xanga friend Kwil, now on blogspot. Phenomenal pictures of Toronto, the outdoors, herself, and everything else. Good writing as well on her journey through life, very honest and admirable.
