  • Bay Area Day 4 (UPDATED)

UPDATE: More photos from last day in the Bay.
Dan and I running into invisible mirror at the bookstore:

Me at the Ethiopian restaurant with Dan:

An odd but pretty moment: someone left flowers on the back of the car

    OLD POST:
I will just showcase the three Xangans I met today:
Kayla was nice enough to meet me on short notice, and I liked how this photo turned out!
Ally and I tried to be artistic, and met in the afternoon

Finally, I was able to help Dan/Drakonskyr reconnect with his Ethiopian heritage:

  • Bay Area Day 3

Day 3 in the Bay Area had zero Xangans involved--just the church events and some travel. Here is what I got:
Flowers outside the hotel, loved how they entwined the fence:
Greek meal involving lamb, rice, feta, stuffed grapeleaves, and spinach pita

Tom, a good friend from California

Beautiful clouds! My passenger friend took the photos:

Tom and his sister's family outside church

For the one service, they did a Passover dinner re-enactment, I liked how it looked

    That's it!

  • Bay Area Day 2

So sleepy right now thanks to a delicious meal courtesy of @smile4leena and her friends (shout out to Derrick who is a master of friendship). Photos of dinner tonight follow! still here for two more days.

  • Bay Area Day 1

I decided to try to update in almost real-time from my Bay Area trip. I was curious just how well my phone, camera, and laptop can update, so here goes!
I arrived in Chicago at 8:30 AM and settled down for a long layover. The attendants kept giving very precise updates as to why our plane was delayed, to my amusement and horror.
"The flight crew is almost here, and when they get here, we'll board. The pilot is stuck in the parking lot...he just needs a car to bring him over...it's raining and lightning so he can't walk over..." etc. And no, I'm not exaggerating as to the specificity.
I consoled myself by inhaling a deep-dish pizza. Mmmmm

Finally I got to the Bay Area. Running late, one of my meetings fell through. However, I was able to see my  Xanga friend Kayla. I last saw her two years ago, and it was so good to reconnect. I appreciate her friendship a lot, and loved hearing all the good news she had to share.

Finally, I got to appreciate California's unique architecture. I love the pastels!

More tomorrow! if I have the energy.
