  • Prayer Requests

Prayer has always been one of the hardest parts of the Christian life for me to follow. The idea of talking to the air or listening for God's guidance is tough for my logic-driven mind to grasp. However, paradoxically, prayer also seems to be what I'm best at. Usually, if I pray hard for something, it gets fixed, or I at least feel more peace about it. I suppose it's much like exercise in that it's hard to start but you feel much better after you do it.

That said, I would like to try to pray more. One good inspiration is to have lots of things to pray for besides my own needs. So, if you have a prayer request, list it below, or send me a message. I have lots of travel time in next few weeks, so I'll print out the list and carry it around with me. Let's see what happens...

  • love and peace...my request for all

  • that's so sweet of you :) um....my mind pretty much is blank at the moment, but i'll let you know if something comes up. i think praying for others is great :)

  • Many people do not believe in prayer, they said it things that were going to work out anyway or its just coincidental. In any case I do believe in prayer, in any case however its done, cause and effect, someone going to do it anyway or the direct hand of God. I will keep on praying, for me it does help. :)

  • I'll start of your list! I think its a really neat idea!
I am preaching in my "home" church this Sunday.  Prayers for openness to God's Word from a woman in the pulpit would be greatly appreciated.  Also that my words would be God's Words that we may all leave the service transformed by the partaking of Word and Sacrament.
Also, my "little" brother is going through a lot of psychological stuff right now and could really use prayers for mental and social healing.
    Thanks so much!

  • Yes it is a shame. I recently started praying. Its hard for me too, I never knew what to say, but on youtube, theres all kinds of prayers that you can repeat, lol.

  • This is so awesome. But I don't think it's really about how hard or how much you pray that going to move God heart is about how much faith you have that He will do what He said He will do.  Faith is what moves God and so I think it's best to just focus on that.

  • Truly?

You could pray that I would have the God-given wisdom to "warn the idle, encourage the timid, and help the weak"--especially discerning who needs what. I have a number of people that I dearly love either in severe pain, extreme confusion, or bullheaded rebellion. It's starting to weigh on me.
You could also pray that my husband and I would find the right name for our new baby when he/she decides to arrive! Haha, we're big on meaningful names and this 4th time is proving difficult. I just can't settle on a name! :p

  • Although this may sound silly....I would only ask for one thing: help my boyfriend get a job

  • Peace for me in the midst of grief. The energy and tenacity to get through this week well.

Also Voice of the Martyrs always has a long list of our brothers in Christ who are being heavily persecuted. I usually pick two or three and pray very hard for them.

  • @TheMarriedFreshman - Israel for a boy, Ruth for a girl... I don't know why, that's just what came to me... hope you don;t mind my poking my nose into your business.

  • @TheMarriedFreshman - bullheaded rebellion or maybe just 'blind' rebellion?

  • Oddly enough, in my human life I am much better at talking that at listening, but with my Father in heaven it is the opposite.  I am much better at listening for God than I am at praying.  I mean I talk to Him all the time, asking for His help, His guidance, thanking Him for small blessings... but I don't know that that is the same as prayer.  I am especially bad at knowing how to pray for other people, although I try.  Thanks for the offer of prayer.  You can pray for guidance for my son, Eric, and for both my son and daughter, Eric and Amy, to see the light of God as a beacon in their life.  And may you be blessed... that is my prayer for you.  <3

    ... and for safe travels.

  • You know prayer doesn't always have to be an "in depth" thing right? I pray through most of my days but most of my prayers are more like tweets than they are blogs. I think one of the enemies best tools for stopping Christians from talking to God more is to trick them into believing that prayer has to be some kind of stuffy, organized and formal thing. As for your prayer list you can pray for my family any time God brings us to your mind. Living with a spouse/father with a brain injury presents us all with new challenges, heartbreaks and frustrations every single day. I appreciate your prayers.

  • Please pray for our family and loved ones.. We pray for God's strength, comfort and providence in this difficult time. We also pray for healing for everyone with sickness. Thank you! God bless!

  • I believe in prayer although I am now turning into a Buddhist after being Christian since childhood years. My prayer request is please pray that we may all radiate joy, peace and love everyday. Thank you

  • @TheMarriedFreshman - Might I suggest Aoife for a girl? It means "Light"! :)

GP -- I'm going to be starting counseling with my Chaplain soon. I'm thoroughly freaked about it. A little Holy peace sent my way would be a Very Good Thing.

  • You know what actually works better? Taking action toward the result that's desired.

  • Momgonemadd is sick right now,she could use some prayer!!

  • We've had 2 answers to prayer recently......salvation for a son-in-law, and healing for a daughter-in-law.  My request now is that our grandson Mark would give his heart and life to Jesus.

  • Prayer is tough for me as well... for me right now I need clear direction: I have about three ways God can change my life in the next year, which is great cause it has been zero it seems for the last two years. I just want to be wise and use my gifts.. and as most, dont want to make a mistake if I have to choose between two or three of these options. Thanks!

The three options are, get a job in:
    (1) Youth Ministry
    (2) Hospital Chaplaincy
    (3) Move up in Retail until something better (for the time being, though I prefer one or two of course)

  • I think prayer is hard for all of us! I think it all comes down to that we put our faith in Him, and know that He hears us!

  • I stole this from a friend of mine (Dale Pratt):

Prayers should be desperate, like the need to breathe, and confident like the certaintly of fresh air, and comforting like the assurance of things hoped for.  Prayers should be passionate, determined, humble and vulnerable.  Prayers neither begin with "Dear God" nor end with "Amen".  On the contrary, they begin with the first breath that violently invades the being of a newborn baby, and end with the final exhale, and all in between they are the communion of the meanderings of a humand mind, wandering in search of its meaning and purpose, with its creator.  Every thought is one side of a conversations, but in passivity it is heartbreaking to God, like a child whose only communications to her parents occurs when they eavesdrop, rather than face to face and eye to eye.  Blah blah blah.  Nevermind.

    Just this:

Pray, breathe, pray, breathe, yearn, breathe, hope, breathe, pray, breathe, rejoice, breathe, pray.  Without ceasing.

  • I think you have done this before and I admire that you're doing it again. It's a committment! My prayer is for motivation/confidence - I have several tasks I need or want to accomplish and apathy or fear hold me back. Thanks!

  • I know exactly what you're saying... That's definitely me, too.
    Great post idea!!

I'll be praying for you. :)

  • :) this is sooo thoughtful and kind...me too im really having a hard time praying specially if there are lots of distractions in my mind..Anyhow,it is said "For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." so with humility, i would ask for a prayer..I have this medical board examination this coming august 2011, iam still discerning if ill take it...this is my second chance..hopefully God would really answer my prayer..

thanks in advance..God bless in all you do. :)
    peace and love.

  • I wouldn't mind some prayer for emotional and spiritual healing.

  • I love your post. You are so right, prayer is not always about our own needs but we can just tell G-d how thankful we are for all the beautiful blessings He's given us. <3

  • Just wanted to let you know GP that I have worked on those things I lacked motivation for. I'm not completely done but it's not for lack of working on them! Thanks for praying.

  • @lilas1024 - Prayed again hang in there, friend.
