  • Bore Me. Please.

It's been years, but I'm remembering the first time I read the Xanga of someone struggling with eating and body image. I was shocked, not knowing anything about such things before that, but I was also intrigued. I think there's a natural tendency to want to know more about whatever it is that is causing so much turmoil and angst. Also, I may or may not be the most curious, nosy person on earth, and if someone else is, I want to find out more about them. Heh.

But after so many years on the Web, I have another request. Bore me, please. I feel like lately, I've heard so many crazy stories, read so many crazy blogs, that I long for normalcy. I can understand that sometimes bad things happen to us and we need to write about them. And I can understand that Xanga has helped a lot of you recover from addictions and struggles because you realize you are not alone.

But sometimes, I just want to see photos of your pets and hear funny stories about your coworker. Bore me with half-interested musings about the guy in class that you sort of like. Tell me about the silly thing your kid did this morning, or how you were obsessed with some silly movie or show when you were fifteen. I don't read your blog just for breathless updates about your crazy love life. Well, except for you, wink wink, but you get what I'm saying. Right? Normalcy can be lovely. Think about it.

  • I want to rec this a million times.  lol

  • I share the funny side of me on fb, by the things I re-post. I just dont write about things like that. Like I did the Color Run. It was fun, but I dont particularly want to write a whole blog about it. I did share some pics on fb though. I guess people who blog do it to let things out, things they can't get out anywhere else. I think the "normal" thing to do is to talk about small things. Yes, maybe sometimes it can be depressing but I think other times it can be healing. I think if you look at my blogs, through the good and bad, you would see over time how I am growing and learning.

    Just a thought!

  • I like reading about that kind of stuff too, honestly. I tend to write stuff like that.

  • I hear ya!

That's why I'm taking a blogging break from here, if you will. becasue there's so much pressure.

  • I think my blog is pretty "normal." The public posts anyway...lol Most of the protected ones too. Right?

  • I agree. I also would like to start creating motivational topics to help support struggling teens/adults.

  • Daniel, @Doubledb - , I agree that sometimes a blog is the only place people can talk about serious things. And I have spent time (a LOT of time) talking to my Xanga friends going through things. But what I hate is that Xanga has become synonymous with drama and angst. Some people leave or won't join because Xanga has this horrid reputation for drama, and that concerns me. There will always be some of us going through tough times, but there should also be people posting about good times and normal life. And lately, I don't see many of those.

  • I could write about epic space battles

  • I'll try... this has been me recently- I've not said much because life has been... life nothing too exciting/dramatic and I get wrapped up in it.

  • have you read my fb lately? boring.

  • You obviously haven't watched my new vlog...Zzzzzzz

  • I am all about dull.  I will try to post more often.
Today I worked for 4 hours, then played in the park all afternoon with Austin, who just turned 10.  We flew a kite and rode waxed paper down the big slides..  : )

  • I just ate basil flavoured croutons right out of the bag. Not even on a salad, just ate like 6 of them because they're delicious. How is that for boring

  • This was a really boring post.

  • Well then read my blog! LOL! Hey, you didn't finish our Scrabble game. :( If you cannot go anywhere, you have to click or tap on "Pass."

  • You know, @thisishowifindmyself - I was going to message you about that! for some crazy reason, I can't log into the app or the online site! It's driving me crazy. I'm so sorry. I forgot your xanga name to message you. Let me try again--it's working fine for you?

  • You don't know boring until you've read my comments.

  • @GreekPhysique - Hmm, really? That's odd. Yes, it's working fine for me. I nuged you a few days ago to remind you that it's your turn. I don't know what to do for you. Maybe reset the app? (Delete it and then restore it again)

  • Today I went to the park with my girl and some friends and their kids. we went hiking and saw six deer playing, and one of the little ones thought they were going to have her for a snack lol

  • I agree.  I can relate to the normal events better than to the extreme. And daily life provides plenty of good stories.

  • I saw a mouse dart in front of my car on the drive to work this morning.

  • This would be your dream blog:

    http://www.dullestblog.com/

    I know I love it!

  • Awesome.  The two posts I did today should fit right in.
