  • Easter

I was invited to a local Greek family's home for Easter, so I stayed in New York. It was lovely. They invited some music and engineering students, and they had their relatives over as well. We enjoyed the dyed eggs, lamb, and plenty of original Greek delights. Greek music played in the background. After dinner, the music student played on the piano and the grandfather sang, it was a lovely combination.

Yet, when it was all over, I realized how badly I missed it all. I'm not as close to as many Greek people, being in NY now. I eat at a local Greek restaurant once a week, but I'm not as connected to the larger Greek community. And I miss that. It's funny how you can lose something and not realize how much you miss it until you reconnect with it. What or who have you lost that you realize you miss?

  • you don't miss it until it's gone.

My grandparents were Polish but we went to a Greek place around the corner from them once a week and they called them The Greeks. They were very nice and their food was good.

  • I've lost too many friends to count. Every month or so I get it into my head to call them up and invite them out. But then I remember that we're not friends anymore and that's not how it works.

  • A Greek Easter, how fun and interesting!

There aren't really any Slovak or Serbian eateries nearby. There's a Slovak club in the town next to mine but it's only people over 70 that are there and I'd like to be socializing with people much closer to my age.

  • Sorry we haven't hooked up yet, but I haven't been back over to the Henrietta area in a while. Now I am assigned to a Wegmans in Erie Pa!
When I was a student at Alfred the proprietor of the local bar was a Greek immigrant who served some excellent Greek cuisine. I was especially fond of the Gyros.

  • Moving to the burbs really pulled me away from my Chicano culture. Its okay though, there's a lot of arrogance in the culture.

  • I do miss the food family and art though.

  • Music and engineering students---great combo of minds!

  • that seems the best of both worlds really - you seem well adjusted if you can get nostalgia when reconnecting and manage to stay adjusted to your present life.

This is the first time I checked on Xanga in almost a year. It seems the main page is gone and I did find some members in my reader list but most are not posting anything.

I like the wordpress blog by now. It isn't up to what I had at Xanga and Revelife on the technical side but it works to make connections just the same.

I never thought I cared about making connections - turns out I do though and in fact that is a high priority now.

I saw many of your posts... good life still seems to have you.

    Blessings

  • I was able to allow comments to post - it was way easier to disapprove than to approve and in the long run now there have been only three-four maybe that I've disapproved. I am at hunt4truth.wordpress.com

I think the standard wordpress seems to work as well as this and I like the available templates and themes and so on.

I didn't like the editor and the stats really are minimal. The community is large.

IF I get wonering again, I may log in here... it won't occur often I think.

  • Just saying hi here. Miss you posting. Yes, I'm still not joined in with FB or twitter and since my laptop crashed I even lost the link to yours so I just read Xanga. I am sure you had many interesting adventures on that week of trips you'd mentioned before, and I hope life has been good for you at home since.blessings, Crystal

  • See, I was just under this impression that your whole family had some kind of Greek Radar that allowed you to find the nearest conglomeration of Greeks, but I must have been mistaken.

I find that I do not miss much in my life. It seems as though every time I step into a new season I have similar groups and similar activities. I think that this makes me a fan of shallow interactions, but I suppose I can deal with it.
